Camp Review
The 5th Annual NC Adidas Phenom Camp took place October 17-18th at the beautiful campus of Forsyth Country Day in Lewisville, North Carolina. 240 campers participated in the region's largest exposure camp. 80 players participated in the NC Adidas Junior Phenom Camp for campers in grades 5-8 with 160 players participating in the NC Adidas Phenom 150 Camp. The purpose for the middle school camp was to evaluate players for the National Adidas Jr. Phenom Camp held every summer in San Diego, California. Players that will be attending the 6th, 7th and 8th grade (Classes: 2015, 2016, 2017) for the 2009-10 calendar year will be attending the National Camp. LEWISVILLE, N.C. - The N.C. Phenom 150 Camp last weekend yielded a few names, mainly from the 2012 class. T.J. Warren, Adam Coble and Tyler Lewis were among the standouts.
 1

Brian Darden, PG: The Phoebus product can get buckets at the point. He's got quicks and prefers to play fast. Would like to see him develop pace to his game. Natural inclination is as a scorer. Good-looking player with mid-level projections.
 1

T.J. Warren, SF: Saw him twice on Saturday. The first time out he wasn't active. In round two, completely different approach. We charted Warren and he went for 29 points and 15 rebounds. He's a ball-handling wing player with solid touch around the rim and he's sneaky athletic. One of the top sophomores in the state of N.C.

Adam Coble, PF/SF: Liked him last spring and so far he's making strides with his game. He's a skilled forward who hasn't defined his long-term position yet. Position-wise, could go either way. The mids will love him, the big boys are sure to look. Has improved since the spring.

Tyler Lewis, PG: You know what you're getting each time out. Lewis, as expected, had the best floor game, vision and passing at the event. The next step is on the defensive end. He's got a lot of tricks in the bag and his approach is consistent and successful.

Josh Newkirk, PG: Step One was taken last weekend and now he's on the radar. The next part of the process is a good high school season. Played JV last year. Can get his own shot and chances for others. Liked how he's got a burst to the cup.
 1

Brian White, F: The Chester (Va.) Matoaca product has yet to play a high school game but he's worthy of radar status. The best shot blocker we saw here. If his body develops he won't pay for college.

As you know, this is not the site for promoting middle school kids. However, when they play "up" and standout, you've got to give them their due. Kestrel Heights point guard Eric Johnson and Greensboro area forward Theo Pinson are two potential national level players in their age group. Johnson already has natural feel and Pinson has the look of a wing with lots of elements to his game.
 1

Chris Dixon, a 2011 PG out of Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons is a strong student and potential Division I player. Big year for him. Teammate Alberto Munoz is on the fence as a senior DI prospect though he should draw collegiate attention from DII schools as an athlete who gets to rim. ... Pittsboro (N.C.) Northwood forward Antonio Farmer battled Winston Salem Prep freshman Greg McClinton as the best leapers in camp. ... Marcus Burton of Charlotte is a 2011 potential DI player at the lead guard slot. ...

Liked junior forward Andrew White of Thomas Dale. ... Would have liked to have seen more of 2011 slasher Tabarris Hamilton and 2011 athlete Juan Young. ... Not sure what direction he'll go in but 2013 forward Mark Pollack is 6-5 but strikes me as a guy who could do a lot of growing. The sneaker size tells the story! He attends Charlotte Christian. ...

Top Players at Prep Phenom Camp
Posted: Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009

More than 250 basketball players attended Saturday's camp at Lewisville's Forsyth Country Day. Several of the nation's top scouts attended, including scout.com's Dave Telep and Prepstars' Rob Harrington. A look at the top 10 campers, in alphabetical order:
Marcus Burton, Butler, 5-11, Jr., G: Very smooth guard who plays under control and was excellent passer. Deceptively quick and good defender.
Brian Darden, Hampton (Va.) Phoebus, 6-2, Jr., G: Superb quickness, nifty ball handler can get to the basket when he wants; is also good shooter..
Tabarris Hamilton, West Forsyth, 6-2, Jr., G: Quick guard who showed propensity to score inside with bigger players. Tough defender.
Kevin Hickson, Providence, 6-7, Jr., F: Long and athletic, runs the floor well and has a surprisingly soft touch. Big upside.
Greg McClinton, Winston-Salem Prep, 6-5, Fr, G/F: Long, athletic dunking machine just recovering from major knee surgery. Had several crowd-pleasing dunks.
LaCurtis Lattimore, Holly Springs, 6-2, Sr., G: Explosive leaper who plays bigger than his size. Scores in bunches.
Tyler Lewis, Forsyth Country Day, 5-11, So., G: Excellent ball-handler who is developing a consistent outside shot. Great passer.
T.J. Warren, Durham Riverside, 6-6, So., F: Father, Tony, played at N.C. State and T.J. looks like a major-college recruit, too. Good all-around game. Can score inside and out. The best sophomore in N.C.?
Brian White, Chester (Va.) Matoaca, 6-5, Fr., F: The best shot-blocker at camp. Great inside defensive presence and should get taller. Juan Young, Pittsboro Northwood, 6-2, Jr., G: Athletic combo guard with great ability to drive to the basket and score. Good outside shot.

Our North Carolina Editor Rick Lewis checks back in and he tells us that, in addition to playing against excellent competition and getting great exposure at the 5th Annual North Carolina Adidas Phenom Camp in Lewisville, NC, the top players in the 8th and 9th Grade Divisions were playing for invitations to the Phenom Top 150 Camp, which will be held in San Diego, CA, June 24th-27th. Without a doubt the top five freshmen in camp were 6'6 Frosh Greg McClinton from Winston-Salem (Prep) NC, 6'5 Frosh Marcus Bryan from Raleigh (Ravenscroft) NC, 6'5 Frosh Brian White from Chester (Matoaca) VA, 5'10 Frosh Andrew Rowsey from Lexington (Rockbridge) VA, and 6'3 Frosh Cody Hylton from Greensboro (Northwest Guilford) NC.

"McClinton is a long lanky athletic wing who loves to run the floor in transition," says Lewis. "McClinton's nickname at camp might have been "Dr. Dunk"" since he had at least 5-6 baskets per game via dunks. Although, we didn't keep track of the player with the most dunks, it would have to be McClinton hands down. Since I know McClinton extremely well, he does sport a high mid-range game. But he didn't showcase this skill at camp. He has tremendous potential and upside. Bryan impressed me with his hustle, hardnosed play, and exceptional ball handling skills. He has good basketball skills, a high basketball IQ, and is a throwback who likes to mix it up and get things done. He displayed a nice mid-range game and was able to get the ball and go coast-to-coast. He also has above average athleticism and his ball handling skills will allow him to play the wing position, if he does not grow much more. White is a young athletic wing who displayed impeccable timing on blocking shots and was very good in transition and ran the floor extremely well. He does need to develop a consistent mid-range jump shot in order to grow as a player, but has a tremendous upside and was one of the favorites of the young frosh at the camp. Rowsey is a promising young prospect at the point guard position. He has a high basketball IQ, exceptional ball handling and passing skills, and can knock down the open 3-point shot. He also has a confidence and flair to his game that I really liked. Hylton is a solid 6'3 shooting guard with tremendous range. In one game over the weekend, he knocked down six 3-pointers. He also has good basketball skills and can play either guard position. But he's best at the shooting guard spot. And, if he continues to develop, he could become a nice mid-major prospect. He can stretch the defense with his long distance shooting."

Lewis also gives special mention to 6'5 Frosh Deojunique Flippin from Holly Springs (H.S.) NC, 6'5 Frosh Dustin Dodd from Concord (Hickory Grove) NC, 6'4 Frosh Troy Williams from Hampton, VA, and 5'9 Frosh James Daniel from Hampton (Phoebus) VA. "Flippin is a strong physical wing/power forward with his final position yet to be determined," says Lewis. "He displayed tenacity on both ends of the court during the weekend. He has good athleticism and is a fierce competitor. Dodd has good basketball skills, a high basketball IQ, and solid fundamentals, but he needs to improve his athleticism. He was one of the few players at camp that boxed out on the defensive end and contested offensive shooters with a hand in their face. His level of play will be determined by his growth and development. Williams is another wing/power forward whose true position has not been determined. He is strong and athletic on the boards, runs the floor extremely well, and is an above average defender. But he is a little raw at the offensive end. Daniel is a quick point guard who is tenacious on the defensive end, displayed good leadership as a point, and distributed the ball well in one game I watched." Other players in the Class of 2013 who should be noted are 5'9 Frosh Demetrius Anderson from Sumter (H.S.) SC, 6'3 Frosh Tyquan Bitting from Winston-Salem (Mt. Tabor) NC, 5'10 Frosh Darius Book from Fayetteville, NC, 5'11 Frosh Dahmir Boswell from Concord (J.M. Robinson) NC, 5'8 Frosh Samuel Buckner from Clemmons (West Forsyth) NC, 5'10 Frosh Clay Byrd from Connelly Springs (East Burke) NC, 6'3 Frosh Blake Cranor from Mooresville (Lake Norman) NC, 6'1 Frosh Anthanee Doyle from Garner (H.S.) NC, 5'11 Frosh Brandon Earnhardt from High Point (Christian) NC, 6'2 Frosh Douglas Elliott from Simpsonville (J.L. Mann) SC, 6'1 Frosh Anton Gill from Raleigh (Ravenscroft) NC, 5'5 Frosh Devonte' Graham from Raleigh (Broughton) NC, 5'8 Frosh Cameron Kirkman from Granite Falls (Heritage Christian) NC, 5'11 Frosh Andrew Lanier from Mount Holly (East Gaston) NC, 5'9 Frosh Jerrel Moore from Greensboro (Day School) NC, 6'5 Frosh Mark Pollack of Charlotte (Catholic) NC, 5'4 Frosh T.J. Robinson from Fayetteville (Christian) NC, 6'2 Frosh Shaheed Robinson from Sumter (H.S.) SC, 5'7 Frosh Shermon Sherin from Fayetteville (Trinity Christian) NC, 6'0 Frosh Joseph Stepp from Lewisville (Forsyth Country Day) NC, 5'10 Frosh Deshar Thomas from Goldsboro (Spring Creek) NC, 5'6 Frosh Avery Wilson from Simpsonville (J.L. Mann) SC, 5'8 Frosh Malik Wilson from Columbia (Spring Valley) SC, and 6'0 Frosh Brenen Wright from Hope Mills (Fayetteville Christian) NC. Lewis tells us that two 8th Graders really stood out and he predicts that 6'3 8th Grader Theo Pinson from Greensboro, NC and 5'11 8th Grader Eric Johnson from Durham, NC will be major impact players once they arrive on their perspective high school campuses. Pinson is ranked #12 nationally in the senior class by the HOOP SCOOP and it appears we were right on target. "Pinson is already a long athletic 6'3 wing with point guard abilities," says Lewis. "Eventually he will be an elite level point guard. He has superb ball handling skills and sees the floor extremely well. Although Pinson has a "flash" to his game, he is very unselfish and will make the extra pass to his open teammate. In addition to being a superb ball handler, he is very good on the defensive end. He is aggressive on the boards and already has an uncanny shot blocking ability for a prospect so young. The only weakness in his game is a consistent jumper. But he has plenty of time to perfect that." However, we missed on Johnson, who is another high level prospect and a name to keep in your memory bank. "Johnson is a true point guard with the ability to score and hit the outside jumper," says Lewis. "Johnson has the blend of athleticism and basketball IQ that is rare today. I was impressed with his leadership skills on the floor and he ran his team in the high school division like a veteran. Johnson is also very strong in attacking the basket and has all the tools."

Some other players in this age group who deserve special mention are 6'0 8th Grader Austin Dasent from Charlotte (Southwest Middle School) NC, 6'2 8th Grader Timmy Cooper from Lewisville (Forsyth Country Day) NC, 5'8 8th Grader Colton Bishop from Lewisville (Forsyth Country Day) NC, and 6'2 8th Grader Darek Barnes from Hickory (Granite Falls Middle School) NC. "Dasent was dominating in the middle school division and was another player we moved up to play in the high school division," says Lewis. "Dasent was active all week as he displayed hustle plays and solid ball handling skills. Cooper has solid fundamentals and runs the floor very well. Already sporting a long lanky frame, it looks like he could grow to 6'6 or better. He also has good basketball skills and a high basketball IQ. Bishop is a true pass first point guard who makes all the right plays, is a true team player, and is always looking for his open teammate in transition. He is also a deadly outside shooter. Barnes is a solid big with very good basketball fundamentals and skills and was dominating all weekend rebounding and running the floor. Other players in the Class of 2014 who played well were 5'0 8th Grader Darius Moore from Fayetteville, NC, 5'8 8th Grader Randolph Hunt from Creedmoor, NC, 5'10 8th Grader Chris Adams from Winston-Salem, NC, 5'0 8th Grader Dylan Anderson from Fayetteville, NC, 5'11 8th Grader Hanif Bilal from Winston-Salem, NC, 5'2 8th Grader Khristopher Gardin from Morganton, NC, 5'6 8th Grader Jalen Gavin from Greensboro, NC, 5'8 8th Grader DeAndrew Kellam from Bassett, VA, 5'6 8th Grader Gabriel Logan from Morganton, NC, 5'7 8th Grader Matthew Milovic from Charlotte, NC, 5'4 8th Grader John Vargo from Lewisville, NC, 5'6 8th Grader Jeremiah West from Simpsonville, SC, 5'3 8th Grader Zahir Whitfield from Charlotte, NC, and 5'7 8th Grader Daniel Wyatt from Charlotte, NC.

The two players who clearly stood out in the Class of 2015 were 5'7 7th Grader Perry Dozier from Columbia, SC and 5'7 7th Grader Julius Barnes of Raleigh, NC. "I would have loved to see these two young prospects go head-to-head," says Lewis. "The 5'7 Dozier comes from good stock since this father and uncle were both 6'9 standouts at the University of South Carolina. Dozier played up in the high school division and more than held his own against the older players. He has tremendous potential and upside. His skill level is way beyond his years as a 7th Grader and has the blend of good genes, athleticism, and skill to be one of the top players in his class. With regard to Barnes, he was simply dominating in the middle school division. He has lightning quick speed, is like a jet with the ball in his hands, and was tough at the defensive end." Other players in the Class of 2015 who deserve special mention are 5'3 7th Grader DeShawn Patterson from Lenoir (Middle School) NC, 5'5 7th Grader A.J. Fulp from Monroe (Piedmont) NC, 5'4 7th Grader Anthony Bilas from Charlotte (Latin) NC, 6'0 7th Grader Austin Burnette from Raleigh (Neuse Christian) NC, 6'0 7th Grader Tyler Crowther from Raleigh (Neuse Christian) NC, and 5'10 7th Grader Timmy Walker from Charlotte (J.M. Alexander) NC. "Patterson is a solid point guard with good quickness and ball handling abilities," says Lewis. Patterson's ability to handle the ball in traffic in superb for a young 7th Grader. He has good court vision and is a very good passer. Fulp played solid all weekend and has tremendous basketball fundamentals. He is the ultimate team player and is extremely unselfish. He was as happy making the assist as he was scoring, which is nice seeing today. Bilas also comes from good stock and you can understand how fundamentally sound he is. He does so many things well. He is a good shooter, ball handler, passer, and solid defender. Burnette has a good skill level for a young big player. He also was very mobile and skilled. Crowther is another young player with tremendous size, skills, and athleticism. He played really well, ran the floor, and scored often in transition. Walker was active and aggressive in all the games I saw this weekend. At 5'10 in the 7th grade, he played more like a guard than a forward or center. Walker had a nice blend of skills and athleticism and had a nose to find loose balls and rebounds with put backs." Other players in the Class of 2015 who should be noted include 5'2 7th Grader Dillion Beaver from Hickory, NC, 5'2 7th Grader DJ Caldwell from Charlotte, NC, 4'8 7th Grader Christopher Clemons from Raleigh, NC, 5'9 7th Grade Felix Culmer from Hopewell, VA, 6'1 7th Grader Chris Dorrah from Gaston, SC, 5'4 7th Grader Andrew Evans from Raleigh, NC, 5'4 7th Grader Dextor Foster from Columbia, SC, 5'6 7th Grader London Johnson from Bennettsville, SC, 5'0 7th Grader Kenneth Legette from Columbia, SC, 5'3 7th Grader Emarius Logan from Blythewood, SC, 5'0 7th Grader Tyron McClveen from Darlington, SC, 5'2 7th Grader Ben Nooner from Clemmons, NC, 5'7 7th Grader Gerald Peacock from Raleigh, NC, 5'1 7th Grader Kip Peak from Asheville, NC, 5'2 7th Grader Breland Powe from Columbia, SC, 5'5 7th Grader Sadaris Rhodes from Charlotte, NC, 5'8 7th Grader Rashad Robinson from Sumter, SC, 4'9 7th Grader Montrell Tillman from Wadesboro, NC, and 5'3 7th Grader Xavier Williams from Fayetteville, NC.

Among the players who separated themselves from all the rest in the Class of 2016 were 5'7 6th Grader Seventh Woods from Columbia (Alcorn Middle School) SC, 5'4 6th Grader Dennis Smith from Fayetteville (Reid Ross Classical Middle) NC, 4'8 6th Grader Michael Melvin from Fayetteville (Seventy-First Classical Middle School) NC, 4'10 6th Grader Caron Corpening from Lenoir (Middle School) NC, 5'6 6th Grader Jalen Isaiah from Columbia (Crossroads Middle School) NC, 4'11 6th Grader John McCrimmon from Gastonia (Gaston Day School) NC, and 4'11 6th Grader Javan McBride from Charlotte (Coulwood Middle School) NC. "Woods is a great young player with all the tools," says Lewis. "He was athletic, skilled, and played hard. He also has good ball handling skills and attacked the basket at every opportunity. Smith is a young player who does everything well. Melvin is a savvy quick point guard with good ball handling and passing skills and exceptional court vision for a 6th Grader. Corpening is a tough nosed point guard with poise and leadership for a young player. He has very good ball handling skills, but I was most impressed with his defense. You don't find many players in the 6th Grade who play any harder on the defensive end. Isaiah had the three key components on the offensive end. He was a very good ball handler, passer and shooter. McCrimmon is another player who you like having on your team. He is highly skilled, plays great team basketball, is very unselfish, and always was looking up to find an open player. McBride is a savvy quick point guard with very good ball handling skills. He is also a tough defensive standout.

Other players in the Class of 2016 who deserve to mentioned are 5'8 6th Grader Yahya Bilal from Winston-Salem, NC, 4'11 6th Grader Darius Cook from Charlotte, NC, 4'7 6th Grader J.C. Culbreath from Rural Hall, NC, 5'8 6th Grader Ty Graves from Greensboro, NC, 5'2 6th Grader Andre Harrison from Parkton, NC, 5'5 6th Grader Joshua Howard from Charlotte, NC, 5'1 6th Grader Michael Hueitt Jr.from Raeford, NC, 5'6 6th Grader Jalen Isaiah from Columbia, SC, 5'0 6th Grader Justin King from Raeford, NC, 5'10 6th Grader Vincent King from Charlotte, NC, NC; 5'1 6th Grader Marcus Plair from Charlotte, NC, 5'4 6th Grader Dennis Smith from Fayetteville, NC, and 5'2 6th Grader Tommy Sokolosky from Winston-Salem, NC. The players who separated themselves from all the rest in the Class of 2017 were 5'3 5th Grader Zachary Buttler from Roebuck (Elementary) SC, 5'0 5th Grader Alex Petrie from Midlothian (St. Christopher School) VA, 5'0 5th Grader Jamison Hunt from Riley (Elementary School) WV, 5'1 5th Grader Trey Wertz from Charlotte (Old Providence School) NC, 5'6 5th Grader Dylan James from Ripley (Inez Elementary) WA, 4'8 5th Grader Mark Billups from Charlotte (KIPP Academy) NC, 5'2 5th Grader Quan Murphy from Charlotte, NC, and 5'4 5th Grader Elijah Cuffee from Poco (Rock Branch Elementary) WV. "Buttler has a very high skill level and good athleticism," says Lewis. "Petrie was one of the most fundamentally sound young players in the camp. He had a great shot with follow through and release. Hunt was a tough nosed competitor with good skill level. Wertz is a young 5th Grader, but displayed a good all around game. He is highly skilled and fundamentally sound and was an excellent passer, along with knocking down threes. James is a fundamentally sound and skilled player. Billups was a defensive menace on the floor and a fierce competitor with good quickness. Murphy is another player who does everything well. He has good fundamentals and a high basketball IQ. He also is a very solid shooter, passer, and ball handler. Cuffe is a strong and athletic young prospect who is highly skilled. Other top players in the Class of 2017 are 5'3 5th Grader Andreeas Fuller from Fayetteville, NC, 4'8 5th Grader Chase Praeger from Cornelius, NC, 5'2 5th Grader Tyrece Cheek from Greensboro, NC, 5'6 5th Grader Gerald Lawhorne from Ridgeway, SC, 5'0 5th Grader JustinMcCluney from Pfafftown, NC, 5'2 5th Grader Alex Michael from Greensboro, NC, 5'0 5th Grader Christopher Porter from Sandy Hook, KY, 5'1 5th Grader Jalen White from Sumter, SC, and 5th Grader Michael Worrell from Pfafftown, NC.

The 5th Annual North Carolina Adidas Phenom Camp took place over the weekend on the campus of Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC and our North Carolina Editor Rick Lewis tells us that his camp was off the hook. "There were 240 campers and there a lot of excellent prospects," says Lewis. He starts with 6'3 Will Saunders from Greensboro (Northwest Guilford) NC, 6'2 LaCurtis Lattimore from Holly Springs (H.S.) NC, 6'1 Issac Ryals from Freemont (Aycock) NC, and 6'4 Alberto Munoz from Mooresville (Cardinal Gibbons) NC, who were the top four-ranked seniors at the event. "Saunders is an athletic off guard with length and hops," says Lewis. "He's an under the radar prospect who could fine tune skills that may be helpful to a low-to-mid Division I program. Lattimore may be a major steal for a low to mid major program. The combo guard displayed tremendous strength and athleticism for a guard. He attacks the basket extremely well and used his explosiveness and leaping ability to jump over smaller guards. He also displayed a tough all around game. Ryals has the tools to be a good Division I point guard. He displayed very strong ball handling skills and is an average shooter. Sometimes, he tries to over penetrate and, by doing so, created some turnovers. But Ryals has the tools to have a good senior season. Munoz is a strong and powerful small forward who played really hard on both ends of the court."

Next on Lewis' list are the top nine juniors at the event, which includes 6'8 Jr DaShawn Stitts from Hampton (Phoebus) VA, 6'5 Jr Andrew White from Chester (Thomas Dale) VA, 6'2 Jr Brian Darden from Hampton (Phoebus) VA, 6'2 Jr Juan Young from Pittsboro (Northwood) NC, 6'5 Jr Antonio Farmer from Pittsboro (Northwood) NC, 6'2 Jr Tabarris Hamilton from Winston-Salem (West Forsyth) NC, 6'7 Jr Kevin Hickson from Matthews (Providence) NC, 5'11 Marcus Burton from Charlotte (Butler) NC, and 6'6 Julian Sampah from Greensboro (Northwest Guilford) NC. "Stitt is a long and active wing with very good athleticism," says Lewis. "Outside of being a tremendous player on the court, he is an outstanding young man. I loved the way Stitt played the game. He played so hard on both ends of the court. He also ran the floor extremely well. He has a tremendous upside. White was one of top three players at the event in the Class of 2011. He is a solid 6'5 shooting guard who has some point guard ball handling skills. He can attack the basket with the best of them and loves to dunk in your face. Darden is strong and quick, but had a deadly outside shot in his Saturday games. He can handle the ball, see the floor, and make the correct pass. Darden loves attacking the basket, but you cannot leave him open because he will knock down the three ball. Young may have helped his stock as much as anyone in camp. He is extremely quick, but powerful and has tremendous athleticism. He was explosive in attacking the basket, but also sports a nice looking jump shot and has very solid ball handling skills. He can play point guard at the next level based upon his quickness and athleticism. He played on the Northwood High School team that was runner-up last season at 2A. Farmer may have one of the highest verticals in the state. According to his high school coach, Farmer sports a 42-inch vertical jump and, after seeing him play this weekend, I would not doubt it. Farmer has only been playing competitive basketball for the past three years, but his athleticism is off the chart. If his skill level can catch up with his athleticism in the next year, he could develop into an outstanding player at the next level. He just needs more time in the gym. I've had plenty of opportunities to watch Hamilton in the Forsyth Country Day School Fall League and he continues to impress me. He is another athletic combo guard who can flat fill it up. He has a beautiful stroke and every shot looks like it is going in. Besides being an outstanding outside shooter, he is a very solid ball handler and can play the point guard position at the high school level. He played both ends of the floor and I like the way he defended. Hickson will surprise you with his athleticism. He attended my Drills and Skills Camp and I really like him as a prospect. Basically unheard of until then, but he is a long lanky small forward who runs the floor extremely well. He does have a nice soft touch, but needs to be more consistent on his follow up. He is eager to learn and get better and he worked extremely hard in my stations at camp. I really like his upside. Burton is a well built and powerful point guard who uses his strength quite well and has a nice complement of skills. He has good ball handling skills and can knock down the outside shots with consistently. He is a blue collar point guard that plays hard on both ends of the floor and is more athletic than he appears. He also is a quality young man and good student. Sampah is another youngster I had not seen play prior to this event, but he has no trouble beating you off the dribble and slashing to the basket. He impressed me with the way he finished around the basket."

Lewis also mentions the top four players who were at his event in the Class of 2012. And right at the top of his list is his son - 5'11 Soph Tyler Lewis from Statesville (Forsyth Country Day) NC. "Lewis continues to have a tremendous fall season and has excelled at every event. He was named MVP in the North Carolina/South Carolina Battle of the Classes for the 2012 and was one of the top players at Elite 75 Camp and the Pangos All South Camp. Lewis also teamed up with high flying Antonio Farmer for some eye catching alley oop dunks that will make our highlight film (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU). Lewis is getting better defensively and is stopping dribble penetration, which was a weakness a year ago. If he continues to grow and get bigger and stronger, the sky is the limit." And what about 6'5 Soph T.J. Warren from Durham (Riverside) NC, 6'8 Soph Adam Coble from Greensboro (Northwest Guilford) NC, and 6'0 Soph Joshua Newkirk from Raleigh (Southeast Raleigh) NC? When talking about Warren, Lewis says "I absolutely love this young man. He is an outstanding player, but is also a very humble player. Warren has a tremendous upside being 6'5 sophomore with a feather smooth outside shot. Although his shot is a knuckleball with little to no backspin, he does have a such a soft touch. He also can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket. He is nifty and crafty for a player his size with the ball and has all the skill level necessary to be a very special player. I also like him because he is such a humble young man and has a neat personality. Coble is a kid I've been writing about all summer. I really like his game. I liken him to a young Christian Laettner and he will surprise you with his sneaky athleticism and ability to knock down open shots when left open. He is extremely good in transition and likes to run the floor. I probably have him ranked higher than anyone else, but I really like his potential and game. Newkirk was another surprise player that I did not know until this event. He is a very athletic guard who is very quick with the ball. He has a quick step and seemed to blow past defenders. He attacked the basket very well. I did not see him take many outside shots, but it's clear that he has a tremendous upside." Lewis will also add to this report later tonight or tomorrow with comments about all of the great middle school players who attended this event. So stay tuned!

5th Annual NC Adidas Phenom Camp
Tuesday, 20 October 2009 12:32 Rick Lewis
phenomPhoto LEWISVILLE, NC - The 5th Annual NC Adidas Phenom Camp took place this past weekend on the campus of Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC. Over 240 campers attended this event and the camp was a haven for mid major prospects with a few that can play at a high division I level. One new addition, we will be supplying video clips on the events covered.
2010 Class
6'3 Will Saunders, Northwest Guilford, Greensboro, NC: Saunders is an athletic off guard with length and hops. Under radar prospect that could fine tune skills that may be helpful to a low to mid division I program.
(See highlights on video link) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'2 LaCurtis Lattimore, Holly Springs High School in Holly Springs, NC: Lattimore may be a major steal for a low to mid major program. The combo guard displayed tremendous strength and athleticism for a guard. He attacks the basket extremely well and used his explosiveness and leaping ability to jump over smaller guards. He also displayed a tough all around game.

6'1 Issac Ryals, Aycock High School of Freemont, NC: Ryals has the tools to be a good division I PG. He displayed very strong ball handling skills and is an average shooter. Sometimes, he tries to over penetrate and by doing so created some turnovers, but Ryals has the tools to have a good senior season.

6'4 Alberto Munoz, Cardinal Gibbons in Morrisville, NC: Munoz is a strong and powerful small forward. Munoz played really hard on both ends of the court.

2011 Class 6'8 DaShawn Stitt, Phoebus HS of Hampton, VA: I really liked this young man. He is a long and active wing with very good athleticism. Outside of being a tremendous player on the court, he is an outstanding young man. I loved the way Stitt played the game. He played so hard on both ends of the court. He also ran the floor extremely well. He has a tremendous upside.
(Shown on videoclip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'5 Andrew White, Thomas Dale HS of Chester, VA: White may have been one of top 3 players in the 2011 class. He is a solid 6'5 shooting guard that has some PG ball handling skills. He can attack the basket with the best of them and loves to dunk in your face. White could be a real sleeper in the 2011 class.
(Shown on video clip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'2 Brian Darden, Phoebus HS of Hampton, VA: I really liked his overall game as a PG. He is strong and quick, but had a deadly outside shot in his Saturday games. He can handle the ball, see the floor and make the correct pass. Darden loves attacking the basket, but you cannot leave him open because he will knock down the 3 ball.
(Shown on video clip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'2 Juan Young, Northwood HS in Pittsboro, NC: Young may have helped his stock as much as anyone in camp. Young is extremely quick, but powerful and has tremendous athleticism. He was explosive in attacking the basket, but also sports a nice looking jump shot and has very solid ball handling skills. Young can play PG at the next level based upon his quickness and athleticism. Young played on the Northwood HS team that was runner up last season at 2A.
(Shown on video clip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'5 Antonio Farmer, Northwood HS in Pittsboro, NC: Farmer may have one of the highest verticals in the state. According to his high school coach, Farmer sports a 42" vertical jump and after seeing him play this weekend, I would not doubt it. I will have videos later on in the week showing some of his tremendous dunks. He is definitely a high flyer. Farmer has only been playing competitive basketball for the past 3 years, but his athleticism is off the chart. If his skill level can catch up with his athleticism in the next year, he could develop into an outstanding player at the next level. He just needs more time in the gym.
(Shown on video clip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'2 Tabarris Hamilton, West Forsyth HS in Winston-Salem, NC: I've had plenty of opportunities to watch Hamilton at the FCDS Fall League and he continues to impress me. He is another athletic combo guard who can flat fill it up. He has a beautiful stroke and every shot looks like it is going in. Besides being an outstanding outside shooter, he is a very solid ball handler and can play the PG position at the high school level. He played both ends of the floor and like the way he defended.

6'7 Kevin Hickson, Providence HS of Matthews, NC: Hickson will surprise you with his athleticism. Hickson attends my Drills and Skills Camp and I really like him as a prospect. Basically unheard of until then, but he is a long, lanky small forward who runs the floor extremely well. He does have a nice soft touch, but he needs to be more consistent on his follow up. He is eager to learn and get better and he worked extremely hard in my stations at camp. I really like his upside.

5'11 Marcus Burton of Butler HS in Charlotte, NC: Burton is a well built and powerful PG. Burton uses his strength quite well and has a nice compliment of skills. He has good ball handling skills and can knock down the outside shots with consistently. Burton is a blue collar PG that plays hard on both ends of the floor and is more athletic than he appears. Burton is a quality young man and good student.

6'6 Julian Sampah, Northwest Guilford of Greensboro, NC: Another youngster I had not seen play, but loves to attack the basket. He has no trouble beating you off the dribble and slashing to the basket. He impressed me with the way he finished around the basket.

2012 Class

6'5 TJ Warren, Durham Riverside of Durham, NC: I absolutely love this young man. He is an outstanding player, but is also a very humble player. Warren has a tremendous upside being 6'5 sophomore with a feather smooth outside shot. Although, his shot is a knuckleball with little to no backspin, but he has such a soft touch. Warren also can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket. He is nifty and crafty for a player his size with the ball. Warren has all the skill level to be a very special player.

5'11 Tyler Lewis, Forsyth Country Day, but lives in Statesville, NC: Lewis continues to have a tremendous fall season and has excelled at every event. Lewis was named MVP in the NC/SC Battle of the Classes for the 2012, and was one of the top players at Elite 75 and the Pangos All South Camp. Lewis teamed up with 6'5 high flyer Antonio Farmer for some eye catching alley oop dunks that will make our highlight film. Lewis is getting better defensively and is stopping dribble penetration which was a weakness a year ago. If he continues to grow and get bigger and stronger, the sky is the limit.
(Shown on video clip- actions speaks louder than words)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Md7Gnj9uU

6'8 Adam Coble, Northwest Guilford in Greensboro, NC: Coble is a kid I've been writing about all summer. I really like his game and his game is like a young Christian Laetner of high school basketball. Coble will surprise you with his sneaky athleticism, but can knock down the open shots when left open. He is extremely good in transition and likes to run the floor. I probably have him ranked higher than anyone else, but I really like his potential and game.

6'0 Joshua Newkirk, Southeast Raleigh in Raleigh, NC: Another surprise player that I did not know until this event. He is a very athletic guard that is very quick with the ball. He has a quick step and seemed to blow defenders. He attacked the basket very well. I did not see him take many outside shots, but has a tremendous upside.

2013:
6'5 Marcus Bryan
6'6 Greg McClinton
6'5 Brian White

HOOP SCOOP CAMP EVALUATION

Saturday, October 18, 2008, Sunday, October 19, 2008, & Monday, October 20, 2008

Our National Middle School Editor Joe Keller, who also is the CEO of adidas Phenom Basketball, was at Forsyth Country Day High School in Lewisville, NC over the weekend to cover the 4th Annual North Carolina adidas Regional Camp and he tells us that the camp featured most of the state's top prospects in each grade, as well as arguably the best player in the state in four different classes (sophomore, freshman, 8th Grade, and 7th Grade). We start with the Class of 2010, which featured 6'7 Jr Anthony Thomas from Winston-Salem (Quality Education Academy) NC, who recently verbally committed to Western Carolina. "Thomas processes tremendous athleticism and is an outstanding shooter who can also put the ball on the floor and attack the basket," says our North Carolina Editor Rick Lewis. And what about 6'9 Jr George MaNgoue from Lewisville (Forsyth Country Day) NC? "He has size, strength, and tremendous athletic ability," says Lewis. "This exchange student from Cameroon, Africa is still somewhat raw, but projects as a mid-major prospect." Also on the list of players that Keller and Lewis liked in this age group were 5'10 Jr Geoffrey Hunter from Durham, NC, 6'5 Jr David Jordan from Durham, NC, 6'6 Jr Alex Schmidt from Lewisville, NC, 5'11 Jr Aaron Law from Mebane, NC, 5'9 Jr Zachary Jenkins from Clemmons, NC, 6'4 Jr Christian Lawrence from Mt. Holly, NC, and 5'10 Jr Wade Moody from Mt. Airy, NC. The Class of 2011 is absolutely loaded in the state and this was reflected at the camp, as the top player in this age group was 6'8 Soph Quincy Miller from Winston-Salem, NC. "Miller's stock has skyrocketed this fall by attending many of the top showcase events in the country," says Lewis. "He has freakish athletic ability and can play multiple positions, including the wing and point guard positions. He also has an outstanding shot from beyond the 3-point line and has the complete package. Look for Miller to be a top 25-50 player nationally, if he learns to play with more passion and plays harder all the time." Also really standing out was 6'9 Soph Jackson Simmons from Sylva (Smokey Mountain) NC. "Simmons runs the floor extremely well for a big man and is a blue collar worker on the floor," says Lewis. "Simmons sports a size 18-shoe and could grow to 6'11." Currently Lewis has Simmons ranked among the top 10 players in his class in the state, but he expects the value of Simmons' stock to rise dramatically on the national stage. Although Simmons is not the most athletic big man, he has great fundamentals and, as a result, is already getting interest from ACC schools. Another big man with a tremendous upside is 6'10 Soph John Cannon from Burnsville (Mountain Heritage) NC. "He runs the floor very well for a big man and has a soft shooting touch," say Lewis. "Cannon averaged over 20 ppg in the five-game event and scored 30 points in his match-up against Bernard Sullivan." Remember, Sullivan is the 6'8 power forward from Huntersville (North Mecklenburg) NC who is ranked among the top 25 players nationally in his class, but had been sidelined with tendonitis. However, Sullivan now appears to be near full strength, which makes the fact that Cannon won this head-to-head battle even more impressive. So it should come as no surprise that Lewis tells us that Cannon is a top 10 player in his class in North Carolina and a promising prospect nationally. "Sullivan enjoyed a steady camp, but he did not show the same explosiveness he displayed two years ago at the 14-Under Nationals in Orlando, FL," says Lewis. "Sullivan appears to do his best work inside the paint, but has a tendency to drift on the perimeter." Other players at the camp in the Class of 2011 that drew praise from Keller and Lewis were 6'6 Soph Tyler Poole of Hickory, NC, 6'2 Soph John Burke from Atlanta, GA, 6'1 Soph Michael Boyd from Lake Zurich, IL, 6'4 Soph Dorian Albritton from Mooresville, NC, 6'1 Soph Shai Carpenter from Greenville, SC, 5'11 Soph Randall Davis from Chapel Hill, NC, 6'4 Soph Denzel Dillingham from Hickory, NC, and 6'0 Soph Braxton Cotton from Hillsborough, NC. The top player in the Class of 2012 was 5'10 Frosh Tyler Lewis from Statesville (H.S.) NC, who is currently ranked #18 nationally in his class by the HOOP SCOOP. According to Keller, Lewis may be the best passing point guard in his class in the nation. "What makes him so good is his craftiness and court vision. And his basketball IQ is off the chart for a player so young," says Keller. "Lewis already has a bunch of high Division I offers, but needs to get stronger physically. "That being said, he finds multiple ways to score with a high of 36 points in one the camp games." Other players in this class worth mentioning include 5'9 Frosh Waymond Wright from Raleigh, NC, 6'0 Frosh Michael Burgess from Lenoir, NC, 5'11 Frosh Bradshaun Dozier from Winston-Salem, NC, 6'4 Frosh John Edwards from Davidson, NC, and 6'1 Frosh Jack Young from Salisbury, NC. The top player in camp in the Class of 2013 was 6'2 8th Grader Rodney Purvis from Raleigh, NC. Keller loves Purvis' upside, as he showed a variety of offensive skill sets at the camp. "Purvis has outstanding penetration ability, a nice pull-up jumper, and now has a nice 3-point stroke." And our North Carolina Editor agrees that Purvis is no doubt the #1-ranked player in the state, as a well as a legitimate candidate for a top 20 nationally rankings. Also really making a name for themselves in this age group were 6'2 8th Grader Quinton Ray from Cary, NC and 5'10 8th Grader Eric Johnson from Durham, NC. Johnson is a tough hardnosed defender who plays hard all the time. Ray is a strong 6'2 guard with explosive jumping ability and tremendous quickness. Others who have to be mentioned are 5'11 8th Grader Anton Gill from Raleigh, NC, 5'8 8th Grader DeShon Self from Durham, NC, 6'4 8th Grader Marki Bryan from Raleigh, NC, 6'2 8th Grader Darius Malbon from Hickory, NC, 6'5 8th Grader Tyrek Coger from Raleigh, NC, 6'4 8th Grader Gary Li from Lewisville, 6'4 8th Grader Keegan Pardon from Newton, NC, and 5'8 8th Grader William Ramsey from Lexington, NC. The top player in the Class of 2014 was 6'1 7th Grader Theo Pinson from Greensboro, NC, who is the #1-ranked player in the state in his class by the HOOP SCOOP. "Pinson is an agile 6'1 point guard for a 7th Grader," says Lewis. "He has good handles and tremendous passing abilities." Other players who stood out in this age group were 5'8 7th Grader Timmy Cooper from Winston-Salem, NC, 5'3 7th Grader Teon McCarter from Greenville, NC, 5'3 7th Grader Bobby Phills from Charlotte, NC, 5'0 7th Grader Dillian Beaver from Granite Falls, NC, 5'8 7th Grader Trevion Thompson from Durham, NC, 5'0 7th Grader Darius Moore from Fayetteville, NC, 5'5 7th Grader Dakota Orr from Raleigh, NC, and 5'4 7th Grader Riley LaRue from Lewisville, NC. Getting the nod as the top player in the Class of 2016 was 4'7 6th Grader Montell Tillman from Wadesboro, NC. However, 5'1 6th Grader Justin Kithcart from Durham, NC, 5'2 6th Grader Anthony Bilas from Charlotte, NC, and 5'6 6th Grader A.J. Fulp from Monroe, NC also played well enough to get a mention. The top three players in the Class of 2016 was 4'7 5th Grader Javan McBride from Charlotte, NC, 4'9 5th Grader Johnnie McCrimmon from Charlotte, NC, and 5'3 5th Grader Zack Mack from Hartsell, SC.

Elite 75 Prep Camp Evaluation

NC PHENOM 150 and JR PHENOM 2008 CAMP REPORT
BY ELITE 75 PREP SCOUTING SERVICE

This weekend we had a chance to check out the North Carolina Phenom Jr and 150 Camp. The host was Rick Lewis and the event took place at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, North Carolina. We even had the creator of the whole Phenom movement Joe Keller onsite to take in the activities. The day started off with daily instructions from the camp director and a very high impact ball handling demonstration. The Phenom Jr and 150 camps ran together broke down into a High School Division and a Middle School Division. This made it easy to evaluate talent from the 5th to 8th grade and then 9th to 11th. Games started off first in the High School Division and it was clear from the jump who was most likely going to control the camp from start to finish. We now give you a run down on our High School Division Top Ten Performers. Chicago native and newly found NC resident 6'7 10th grader Quincy Miller, Winston Salem, NC clearly showed why most scouts in recent months have labeled him a major recruit. Miller, who used his slender body well, has a knack for taking the ball off the rim and going coast to coast on most defenders. A surprise and delight to see, was 6'11 10th grader John Cannon, Micaville, NC. This kid gets better each time we see him. Now with a developed hook shot and a more consistent finish, his stock keeps raising by the minute. We also got a great look at Western Carolina's recent committed recruit 6'7 11th grader Anthony Thomas, Winston Salem, NC. Thomas, hardly challenged, was able to get the basket at will and was able to get his shot off on most defenders. Western Carolina surely got in steal in this one. Coming off a long stretch of rest and back in action this weekend was 6'7 10th grader Bernard Sullivan, Huntersville, NC. Sullivan, who showed off his game, displayed a nice shot, and stayed very active around the basket. If he stays healthy he should have a very productive High School season and jump back into the races as one the country's top level recruits. As we evaluated we got a chance to catch a preview of one of the host school's inbound students this year in 6'9 11th grader George MaNgoue, Lewisville, NC. This wide body player from Cameroon, Morocco, had no issues grabbing rebounds and going back up strong on most on takers. He is very productive around the rim and finishes most shots. Look to here a lot from him as a player for Rusty LaRue's High School team. 5'10 9th grader Tyler Lewis, Statesville, NC, flurried with his hot shooting throughout the entire camp, hitting the open jumper over and over and beating defenders to the spot with a deadly floater. He also displayed his knack for passing and assists. Defenses realized quick not to give him any space. 5'10 11th grader Geoffrey Hunter, Durham, NC, was another guard that was able to over power defenders. Hunter, who uses his tailback size frame and quickness to get the rack and beat players off dribble, scored when and how he wanted to. We also noticed 6'4 10th grader Antonio Framer, Pittsboro, NC. Farmer, an athletic small forward, was caught many times pulling down rebounds and dunking on others that got caught watching. 5'9 11th grader Zach Jenkins, Clemmons, NC stood out by using his speed to blow by defenders for the easy lay-ups. Jenkins, who has good court vision and can zip passes, should be interesting to follow this year with RJ Reynolds High School. 6'9 10th grader Jackson Simmons, Webster, NC was seen just out hustling most opponents. Simmons plays with an extreme passion to play hard. He was able to rebound, defend, and score. We even seen him come down and hit a three point shoot in mid stride. We also need to mention two players that played in both the High School and Middle School Divisions that could have made the list were standouts 6'1 8th grader Rodney Purvis, Raleigh, NC and 6'6 8th grader Tyrek Coger, Raleigh, NC. Both played on a high level in the High School group and took the high honors in the Middle School. Other players that played well that we noticed other than the Top Ten were, 6'6 11th grader Alex Schmidt, Lewisville, NC, 5'11 11th grader Aaron Law, Mebane, NC, 6'4 11th grader Christian Lawrence, Mt. Holly, NC, 5'8 11th grader Jerrin Jordan, Charlotte, NC, 5'10 11th grader Wade Moody, Mt. Airy, NC, 6'2 10th grader John Burke, Atlanta, GA, 6'1 10th grader Shai Carpenter, Greenville, SC, 5'11 10th grader Randall Davis, Chapel Hill, NC, 6'1 10th grader TJ Thorpe, 6'0 10th grader Braxton Cotton, Hillsborough, NC, 6'4 10th grader Dorian Albritton, Mooresville, NC, 6'4 10th grader Denzel Dillingham, Hickory, NC, 6'1 10th grader Michael Boyd, Lake Zurich, IL, 5'10 10th grader Jacob McGee, Mt. Holly, NC, 6'0 9th grader Jack Young, Salisbury, NC, 6'4 9th grader John Edwards, Davidson, NC, 6'0 9th grader Michael Burgess, Lenoir, NC, 5'8 9th grader Waymond Wright, Raleigh, NC, 5'11 9th grader Braeshaun Dozier, Winston Salem, NC.

In the Middle School Division we were able to lay eyes on some good young talent. As the games started off it was clear that 6'1 8th grader Rodney Purvis, Raleigh, NC and 6'6 8th grader Tyrek Coger, Raleigh, NC, were hard to stop. Purvis who uses his power and quickness to get to the basket, and now has added a deep three ball to his game, was able to dominate most games he played. Coger, who was simply just too big to be stopped. He was able to pull down most rebounds and finish with ease. Two good floor generals also to mention were 5'10 8th grader Eric Johnson, Durham, NC and 6'2 8th grader Quinton Ray, Cary, NC, both displayed great athleticism on the court and can command the ball. 6'2 8th grader Darius Malbon, Hickory, NC, was also quite hard for most to check. Malbon a slender, quick, and mobile type large guard used his slashing ability to get to the paint on most teams. 6'3 8th grader Dylan Grunwald, Grimesland, NC, was another large body to keep off the glass and was able to muscle back up shots and score around the basket. 5'8 8th grader De'Shon Self, Durham, NC, shot extremely well throughout the camp. Shelf has a nice range shot that can be used from perimeter to mid-range. 6'4 8th grader Marki Bryan, Raleigh, NC, was also a noticeable post player in the division as was 6'4 8th grader Keegan Pardon, Newton, NC. 6'0 8th grader Derrick Brewer, Charlotte, NC, again showed us that he is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Brewer who has a crafty dribble has a knack for getting to the basket and finishing. 6'1 7th grader Theo Pinson, Greensboro, NC, is so versatile, most defenders get confused. Pinson, who can play the 1-5 positions, can switch his game up while pushing the ball up the floor depending on what the defense gives him. 5'8 7th grader Trevion Thompson, Durham, NC, was great to watch in the open court. Thompson, who has great court vision and swagger, was able to get by most defenders and finish the basket with his dominates ball handling skills. 6'0 7th grader Raphael Montgomery, Charlotte, NC, played much bigger than what he is. Montgomery was sometime under sized in the post, but still was able to make big plays. Also was seen handling the ball and taken outside jump shots. Other players that preformed well outside the above mentioned were, 6'4 8th grader Gary Li, Lewisville, NC, 5'5 8th grader Josh Spainhour, King, NC, 5'5 8th grader Austin Teal, Durham, NC, 5'9 8th grader Brandon Lee, Mooresville, NC, 5'6 8th grader Deshar Thomas, Goldsboro, NC, 5'6 8th grader Blake Porter, Cornelius, NC, 5'6 8th grader Chayce Setzer, Hickory, NC, 5'5 7th grader Dakota Orr, Raleigh, NC, 5'4 7th grader Riley LaRue, Lewisville, NC, 5'3 7th grader Bobby Phills, Charlotte, NC, 5'3 7th grader Teon McCarter, 5'0 7th grader Dillon Beaver, Granite Falls, NC, 5'11 7th grader Anton Gill, Charlotte, NC, 4'9 7th grader Darius Moore, Fayetteville, NC, 5'8 7th grader Timothy Cooper, Winston Salem, NC, 5'1 6th grader Justin Kithcart, Durham, NC, 5'1 6th grader Anthony Bilas, Charlotte, NC, 5'6 6th grader AJ Fulp, Monroe, NC, 4'7 6th grader Montell Tillman, Wadesboro, NC, 5'0 5th grader Preston Parks, Simpsonville, SC, 4'7 5th grader Javan McBride, Charlotte, NC, 5'2 5th grader Johnnie McCrimmon, Charlotte, NC, 5'3 5th grader Zachary Mack, Hartsell, SC.

Miller Shines At N.C. Event

2011's Quincy Miller
By Dave Telep
National Recruiting Director
Posted Oct 23, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The North Carolina Phenom 150 Camp tipped last weekend. Teammates Quincy Miller & Anthony Thomas were among the big hits as 60 prospects descended on Forsyth Country Day's campus.

Quincy Miller, SF - The most gifted prospect in attendance. His overall athleticism is impressive. He can leap and play at the rim but also forecasted a passing game. Overall, he went after it hard and if he tightens up the jumper he'll be a priority for big schools.

Anthony Thomas, SF/SG - At this point, its safe to assume Western Carolina pirated one here. Easily one of the best performers on the day. Mix his improving jump shot with a graceful body and you've got an impact kid in the SoCon.

George MaNouge, C/PF - First year in the United States. He had no idea who he was playing against so his approach was consistent. Has great poise and patience in the post and size helps him. Should be considered a mid-level prospect that will be active and could improve quickly.

John Cannon, C - In assessing bigs all you want to see is a steady progression. With Cannon, that's happening. He's nipping 6-foot-10 and now playing with a purpose. Confidence level improving each time out and you can tell he's enjoying the process of advancing from prospect to player. There's work to do but his size, touch and resume are heading in the right direction.

2011's Simmons

Jackson Simmons, PF - Not sure anyone at camp outworked him. Even though he's a hustler, that doesn't define him. Size 19s and long arms make him attractive and his improving jump shot helps. Basketball runs in the family and he'll be at least a mid-level prospect with a ceiling.

Tyler Lewis, PG - Sub-six-footer has a gift for passing and excellent court vision. The challenge he'll face each year will be on the size and speed meter. He's got offers already so that means plenty are keeping tabs on his progress. Can't underestimate how strong a distributor he is. Time and physical maturity will tell which level suits him best.

This season is a big one for sophomore Bernard Sullivan. He's coming off an injury and his high school team (North Meck) has high aspirations. Can play to mid-range; needs to keep developing in the pivot. … 2011's Tyler Poole is a huge student with broad shoulders. Brandishes a mid-range jump shot and a strong man's body. Belongs on the radar. … Be on the lookout for 2013 guard Rodney Purvis out of Raleigh. He played with the high schoolers and didn't look out of place...
